Scotland and England look to follow Wales lead.

The prime minister Boris Johnson is to address the people of England at 8pm this evening where he is expected to announce a further tightening of their lockdown rules and regulations across the border.

Over 65,000 people have now died in England as a result of Covid-19.

Scotland first minister Nicola Sturgeon announced earlier today that the country would, as of midnight tonight, be tightening their lockdown rules making it a legal requirement that Scots living in Level 4 areas remain at home as much as possible during January.

Wales has been in a national tier 4 lockdown since the 19th of December and figures released by Public Health Wales since the new year suggest that the measures introduced before Christmas may be having an affect.

The trend in Wales has seen a small yet steady reduction of newly reported infections in Wales. Figures for the north have continued to rise with Wrecsam now recording the second highest number of positive cases per 100,000 of the population in Wales, second to Bridgend.
